This plaque was given to the U-505 at the Canadian town of Baie-Comeau, on its way to Chicago. The eastern part of the town was founded in 1936 by Colonel Robert McCormick, publisher of the Chicago Tribune, and an influential supporter of the U-505 coming to Chicago.
