This Proteus Barometer from Maximum Weather Instruments is an aneroid barometer, which uses the movement of a flexible metal chamber, or diaphragm, to measure changes in atmospheric pressure. The diaphragm, which is connected to a calibrated circular scale, contracts when air pressure is increased and expands when pressure is reduced.
