Object Description: Brass microscope mounted onto a brown rectangular wooden base. Single eyepiece with horizontal text engraved along the body. At the base of the microscope is a movable lens that acts as the light source. There is a circular hole cut out of the back left corner of the base.

This microscope was handmade c. 1867 by a Mr. Nicholson of Edinburgh, Scotland. The label on the bell jar indicates that this part was made by Alexander Thew, also of Edinburgh.
