Made by the Elkhart Brass Company, this early twentieth-century brass fire nozzle features a rubber tip and a brass ball to control the flow of water through the fire hose. The nozzle would be attached to a playpipe, which connected it to the hose. Playpipes are still in use today and allow firefighters to monitor the pressure of flowing liquid coming out of the hydrant and fire hose.
