This is a replica of the Oracle Team USA AC72 racing yacht that competed in the 34th America’s Cup Match in 2013. The original yacht was used by defending champions Oracle Team USA who were initially down 1-8 to Emirates Team New Zealand. But the Oracle Team USA mounted one of the greatest comebacks in the sport with a final score of 9-8. The AC72 is powered only by wind and its high-tech design allows the yacht to reach speeds over 40 knots and can travel at 2 times the actual wind speed. To do this, the boat uses an efficient wing sail rig that generates a lot of lift, yet very little drag. The boat can lift both hulls out of the water as it flies on underwater fins called foils.
